Ronald R. Marthaler


Ron Marthaler, age 58 of Dalton, formerly of Sauk Centre passed away at his home on Sunday evening, Dec. 9, 2018 in Dalton, MN.
Ronald Richard Marthaler was born on August 15, 1960 in Sauk Centre, MN to James and Shirley Ann (Minette) Marthaler. He attended Sauk Centre High School. After being injured in a farm accident at the age of fourteen, Ron became interested in music and learned to play guitar. He was a natural musician and found playing very therapeutic. He married and had three children. Ron became an entertainer, playing his acoustic guitar and traveled extensively. He was known as E-Z Ron the Music Man and excelled at both writing and playing, specializing in guitar picking. He met many people over the years and especially enjoying returning in the summer time to spend time with family and to get out on the lake fishing.
He is survived by his children, Jesse Marthaler of Underwood, Amanda (fiance, Robert Sutter) Boyle of Dalton, Aaron Marthaler of Dalton; 3 grandchildren, Toby Schumacher, Arthur and Aymon Boyle; his mother, Shirley Marthaler of Sauk Centre; siblings, Dan (Susan) Marthaler, Marilyn (John) Nathe, all of Sauk Centre, Nancy (Mike) Thompson of Alexandria, Gary (Donna Imdieke) Marthaler of Sauk Centre, Carol (Roger) Engle of West Union, David (Mary Jo) Marthaler of Sauk Centre, Diane (Dan) Mensen of Osakis, Joyce (Tom) Torvik of Rice, Gerald (Kristen) Marthaler of Sauk Centre; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death is his father, James and a sister, Patricia Marthaler.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 at 11am at the St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union, MN. Meditational music will be performed by his daughter, Amanda Boyle. Lector is Robert Sutter. Burial is at St. Alexius Cemetery with urn bearer being his son, Aaron Marthaler. Visitation begins at the church at 10am.
