Marjorie Jean Kubitz, 84, of Fergus Falls died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Pioneer Care in Fergus Falls.
She was born January 4, 1931 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Edwin and Linnie (Stevens) Peterson. She graduated from high school in Pelican Rapids. She was united in marriage to William Kubitz on November 1, 1950. The couple lived in Fergus Falls and as a young family moved for a short while to Rollag. They then moved to Calloway, MN and later to Erhard and in 1965 moved to Elizabeth for two years before moving to Barnesville. The final destination was decided to be Pelican Rapids on Lake Lizzie and was the perfect place to settle on the Peterson Berry Farm. After her divorce, she lived in Vergas where she had the most beautiful flower gardens in town.
Marge was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and an extremely talented artist, master gardener, quilter, needlepoint, woodworker, musician and an avid genealogist and traced family history back to the 1600’s. She marketed her own brand of products at many craft sales. She was a partner in a shop in Vergas where she designed, painted and sold jackets that are all over the world. Marge had a woodworking shop in her basement. She made the most amazing seed tables, all kinds of furniture and any and every refrigerator magnet you could imagine. She learned to drive at the age of 50. She purchased a car and started driving all over the state attending craft shows, garden tours, and taking classes. She loved to read and was extremely talented at learning new skills and talents. Marge was very computer savvy and had one of the first computers that was marketed for home use. Her computer was her companion at times. She loved researching topics on the internet and enjoyed all kinds of computer games.
She is survived by her six children: Daryl (Connie) Kubitz of Hawley, Michael Kubitz of Pelican Rapids, Kathy (Bruce) Drechsel of Fergus Falls, Patrick Kubitz of Phoenix, AZ, Melissa Kubitz of Alabama, and Karen Sherzi of Andover, MA; nine grandchildren: Kristopher Kubitz of San Diego, CA, Emily (Joe) Foertsch of Moorhead, MN, Tausha Kubitz of Fargo, Jessica Valdovines of Pelican Rapids, Christy Drechsel of Fergus Falls, Tracy Carter of Cloquet, MN, Noah McKee of Arizona, Chad (Beth) Cossette of Denver, CO and Tori Sherzi of Massachusetts; seven greatgrandchildren: Ava, Reier, Eli, Riley, Ella, Hannah and Jack James and one brother, Richard Peterson of Moorhead. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Dennis Kubitz, two infant children that died at birth, three brothers: James, Donald and Kenneth Peterson and one sister, Doris Peterson.
