Donald “Don” McQuisten


Donald “Don” Eugene McQuisten, 70, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, July 16, 2018, at Sanford in Fargo, ND.
He was born on March 7, 1948, to Eugene M. and Gladys Mae (White) McQuisten in Rapid City, SD. Don graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1966. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era and was stationed in Thailand.
Don was always a very hard-working and self-driven man. He was self-employed for most of his work life, with his most recent years working alongside his loving wife, Jo at Mabel Murphy’s Restaurant in Fergus Falls, MN.
Don’s smile was contagious and lit up the room. Entertaining family and friends was something he enjoyed with all his heart. Whether he was singing Karaoke or cooking for others it always brought him much joy. Another passion of Don’s was riding his Harley. He loved taking long rides on his Harley to adventurous places including Sturgis and visits to his family out of state. Camping, fishing, and playing golf were also activities that Don enjoyed with family and friends.
Don loved his family very much. Spending time together was important to him. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. Don will be greatly missed.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Gladys Krulikosky; his father, Eugene McQuisten; and sister, Patricia Cloutier.
Survivors include his wife, Jo McQuisten; his children, Lisa (Jamie) Beimert; Sheila (Pat) Springer, Leah (Alex) Buehler; Tracy (Eric) Langheinrich, Kristie Strom; siblings, John McQuisten, Marian (Charlie) Brown, Robert (Mary) McQuisten, Tilly (Rich) Stenberg; grandchildren, Chelsea (Tulio) Portillo, Cara (Nick) Beimert, Josh (Brandi) Kellam, Miranda Beimert, Chloe Beimert, Justin Beimert, Jacob Langheinrich; great-grandchildren, Jackson Kellam, Ethan Kellam; nieces, Jennie McQuisten, Katie Carrick, Lindsay Brown; nephews, Ryan Brown, Christopher Cloutier; as well as his extended family, Brad Moe, Debi Stich, Harvey Moe, David Moe, Dianne and Larry Keimig; and his special friends, Tim Lill, Amy and Jim Underdahl, and his many friends and employees at Mabel Murphy’s.
Visitation: 3-5pm Sunday, July 29, 2018, at the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, MN, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the funeral home
Service: 1pm Monday, July 30, 2018, at the Olson Funeral Home Chapel in Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend Saul Stensvaag
Interment: Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN
