Phyllis M. Murphy

Phyllis Marie Murphy, 75, of Fergus Falls, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls, surrounded by her loving family.
Phyllis was born in Girard Township, on December 26, 1940 and was baptized and confirmed at Good Shepherd Church of Henning. She attended Girard District 152 grade school and high school in Henning, MN.
Phyllis was united in marriage to Donald H. Murphy on January 23, 1966 in Sisseton, SD and recently celebrated 50 years together. They made their home in Fergus Falls where they raised their family.
Phyllis worked as a waitress for many years at the Town and Country Dairy, Nuway Café, Runnigens Café and The Spot. She also worked in the food service area at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center and retired from there in 1996. She met a lot of wonderful clients and truly missed working.
Phyllis enjoyed spending time with family and especially her four grandsons and one great grandson. There were many fun family reunions and camping get-togethers at Itasca State Park and later Pelican Lake in Nisswa, MN. Phyllis could make anything, she loved crafting, sewing, cooking and baking, gardening and decorating inside and outside of the house for all holidays. She had a lifelong crush on Conway Twitty and always played his music. She was an avid pet lover her entire life; her cats Teesha and Bandit will miss her very much.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Donald; sons, Allen (Mary) Haiby, Scott (Marie) Murphy; daughter, Tamara Murphy and special friend Tony Schmidt, all of Fergus Falls; and four grandchildren, Craig (Ryan) Foley, Steven (Carly) Haiby, Cody, and Connor Murphy; great grandchild, Axel Haiby; sister Norma (Roy) of Moorhead, MN; sisters-in-law, Eloise Jensen of Henning, Connie Jensen of International Falls, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Phyllis in death were her father and mother, Floyd and Emma Jensen. Sisters and brothers, Vivian, Arletta, Ronald, Dean, Mervin, Virgil, Lois, Mavis, Gordon, Russell, Marlyn, and Dennis. Father and mother in-law, Wallace and Myrtle Murphy and grandson, Michael Wayne Haiby.
Visitation:  5-7pm Tuesday, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, and one hour prior to services.
Memorial Service: 11am Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls
