Merlyn P. Stuvland

Merlyn Stuvland, age 71, of Dent, MN died Monday, August 24, 2015 at his home near Dent under the care of his family and Hospice of Red River Valley.

Merlyn Paul Stuvland was born August 1, 1944 the son of Mayer and Petra (Pederson) Stuvland in Clay County, Minnesota. Merlyn attended school in Barnesville and then worked on the family farm near Rollag. On December 15, 1973 he was united in marriage with Linda Burrish in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

In 1974 Merlyn and Linda moved to the Star Lake area near Dent, Minnesota. For a period of time he worked in construction by himself and then worked many years for ASP Construction, Fargo, ND. After working for ASP, Merlyn went back to be a self-employed contractor. Merlyn had many interests that included woodworking, fishing, spearing and deer hunting. He will be remembered for socializing with friends and family whenever he had the chance. Merlyn is survived by Linda, of Dent, MN; daughter, Mary Stuvland and partner Ben Dalsing, Avon, MN; sons: Brian (Alicia) Stuvland, Pelican Rapids and Corey (Dawn) Stuvland, Barnesville; four grandchildren: Cecelia, Haakon, Maddalyn and Mya; brother-in-law, Gene (Ann) Burrish; sister-in-law, Randa Burrish; and numerous nieces and nephews.
