Kyle Wayne Preston, 31, of rural Fergus Falls, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 14, 2023.
He was born July 24, 1991, in Fergus Falls, to Wayne and DeAnn (Anderson) Preston. He grew up on the Preston Family Farm near Jewett Lake and graduated from Twin Oaks Academy in Fergus Falls.
Growing up, Kyle stayed busy keeping his parents on their toes with his cousin, Shawn. They often paved the way for anything dangerous but always fun for the other siblings.
He worked for Keith Tysdal on Tysdal Farms for many years and loved it. He later worked for Shoremaster and then Otter Express in Fergus Falls. He loved to work side by side with his dad preparing for upcoming farming seasons or trips out to Yellowstone. He was a man of preparation.
Kyle loved dirt biking, snowmobiling – specifically high marking on the mountains, water sports, hunting, fishing, bowling, church league softball, video games, golf and bean bag games. He raced at I-94 Speedway on the Preston Racing Team, car #8K. He attended Life Church in Fergus Falls.
He had a love for life and was there for anyone who needed it. He was affectionately known as the “Fun Uncle” and he lived up to the name. He married the love of his life, Katya, on November 19, 2022. Kyle loved his bride, step son, and his family deeply.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Calvin and Geraldine (Bergquist) Preston and an infant sister, Eva Preston.
Survivors include his wife, Katya Preston of Fergus Falls; a stepson, Bentley; parents, Wayne and DeAnn of Fergus Falls; brothers, Nicholas (Amanda) of Fergus Falls, Alex (Cyndal) of Tintah, and Levi (Emma) of West Fargo, ND; two sisters, Tessa (Derek) Hatlestad of Fergus Falls, and Marie (Adam) Heyer of Fargo, ND; 12 nieces and nephews, with one more on the way.
