Dorothy A. Nelson


Dorothy A. Nelson, 90, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, April 24, 2017, at Pioneer Senior Cottages in Fergus Falls.
Dorothy Arleen Wheeler was born on April 16, 1927 in Tintah, MN, the daughter of Floyd and Stella (Schott) Wheeler.  She was baptized in the Tintah Congregational Church, attended country school, and graduated from Tintah High School.  Dorothy worked along with her father on the family farm.
In 1948, Dorothy met Charles Nelson at a dance and on February 28, 1949, they were married in the Twin Cities.
Dorothy and Charles returned to the area, farming near Tintah, and later in Eagle Lake Township for a brief time.  The family moved to Fergus Falls, where Dorothy has since resided.  In the late 1960’s, Dorothy began working at Ben Franklin in Fergus Falls, a job she held for twenty-five years before retiring.
In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling, and especially time spent with her family and grandchildren.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Dorothy is survived by her four children, Russ (Jan) Nelson of Belle Fourche, SD, Stan (Deb) Nelson of Fergus Falls, LouAnn (Bob) Reger of Dalton, and Gail (Bruce) Kolle of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Stacy (Scott) Kolle, Tara (Mark) Manuel, Matt (Julie), Keri (Chris), Bill (Brittany), Jenny (Matt) Skjeret, Greg (Mandi), Chad Reger, Kelly (Steve) Nelson, Erin (Bryan) Warren, Devin Reger, Allison (Chris) Mitlyng, Andy (Sarah) Kolle, Markie (Eli) Ugstad, Sam (Carmen) Kolle; many great-grandchildren; and a sister, Viola Larson of Rothsay.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1998; and a brother, Merle Wheeler.Visitation: 5-7pm Friday, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
