Arlene A. “Olsen” Bosek

Arlene Adelle “Olsen” Bosek was born to Ann Louise Dahlke and Clifford Charles Olsen on June 28, 1938 in Alexandria, MN. She was united in marriage to John W Bosek on June 22, 1959. To this union, the couple was blessed with six children. In her lifetime, she enjoyed riding horse, snowmobiling, playing softball, volleyball, horseshoeing, fishing and hunting. She always had a passion for reading “Louis L’Amour and Zane Grey” and spending time outdoors at the lake. Right up to her death she continued to play golf and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. With great pride, she was employed as a Radiologic Technologist through the Douglas County Hospital and Alexandria Clinic for over 50 years. She spent countless hours helping with the professional snowmobilers (being referred to as Ma Bosek) or fixing a meal for the Brandon/Evansville Boys Baseball team after a home game. She would go above and beyond to help others whenever she could. All the rewards bestowed upon her over the years was cherished through helping others and “paying it forward”. She accomplished this with all her volunteer work in the different organizations she belonged to over the years. Arlene was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Eagles Auxiliary, Legion, Viking Sportsmen, Relay for Life, VFW Auxillary, Lions Club, Douglas County 4-H, Boy and Girl Scouts, MN Deer Hunters, Fergus Falls Veterans Home, Carlos Sportsman’s Club, Douglas County Hospital and others. Two of her favorite things were the annual “Senior Fishing Day” each July which she was in charge of, and her Senior Companions that she helped each week. She received the Douglas County Elks “Outstanding Senior Citizen Award” in 2014 and the Sertoma “Service to Mankind Award” in 2009. Arlene helped make this world a better place for all she did while she was here. Arlene died on Saturday, August 5, 2017, in a car accident at the age of 79. She is survived by her husband; John W. Bosek of Alexandria; her daughters, Kathleen (Daryl) Rittenour and Deborah (Charles) Revering of Fergus Falls; sons, John C. Bosek of Garfield, James D.
