Stanley Kidder, 89, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at his home in Fergus Falls.
Stanley Ernest was born on July 7, 1926, in Fergus Falls the son of Ernest and Louise Mary (Harles) Kidder. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and attended country school through the 8th grade.
In September of 1950 he entered the U.S. Army and served in combat during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1952 and then attended agricultural school.
On June 4, 1953, he married Elaine Frances Fiedler at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church of Fergus Falls. The couple farmed in rural Fergus Falls. Stanley also worked for the Great Northern Railroad and the Packing Plant. In 2014, Stan and Elaine moved to Red River Village in Fergus Falls, where they enjoyed many new friendships.
He was a life member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church where he served on the church board; he also served as supervisor for the Friberg Township Board and on the Elizabeth Creamery Board. Stanley is a life member of the V.F.W. Post #612, American Legion Post #30, the Eagles and Knights of Columbus.
His hobbies include woodworking, fishing, hunting, playing cards and enjoyed traveling especially to his Army Reunions. What he enjoyed most in life was spending time with family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Joe and Lorenzo; three sisters, Irene Saurer, Evelyn Lee, and Lucille Lee; three brothers-in-law, Anton Saurer, Earl “Bud” Lee and Woodrow Lee; and a great-grandson, Carter Hauge.
His family includes his wife, Elaine; four children, June (Kevin) Clark and Byron (Marsha) both of rural Fergus Falls, Wanda (Dave) Zimmerman of Elizabeth and Judy (Kevin) Hauge of Fargo; 11 grandchildren, Amber (Bill) Miller, Mindy (Jason) Ditch, Kristin (Glenn) Cox, Kyle (fiancée Gabrielle), Spencer (Jenna); Darin, Lauren and Matthew Zimmerman; Brandon (Kayla), Brittany and Brady Hauge; five great-grandchildren, Aubrey Clark, Sophie and Owen Ditch, Hunter and Ava Hauge; two step-grandchildren, Scott and Ross; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Kidder of Fergus Falls; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation: 5 – 7 PM Thursday, June 2, 2016, with a 6:30 PM Rosary, followed by a prayer service, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 AM Friday, June 3, 2016, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls
