Women’s Only “Firearms Safety” Class Offered

Women’s Only “Firearms Safety” Class Offered

Are you an area woman who wants to learn about gun safety but uncomfortable thinking about taking a firearms safety course? Have you ever asked yourself: Would I be the only woman in class? Will I be the only person who has never handled a gun before? Do I really want to sit through a class with twelve year olds? Well if you have, you may be interested in attending the Fergus Falls area Women’s Only “Firearms Safety” Class.

The Fergus Falls Fish and Game Club and Otter Tail County Chapter of Pheasants Forever have again teamed up to offer a unique firearms safety training opportunity for area women. This class will provide basic training for the safe handling of firearms and also qualifies for firearms safety certification by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

The course is being offered for women 18 years of age or older. You will learn about hunter responsibility; gun parts; rifle, shotgun and handgun operation; safe firearm handling; fundamentals of shooting; wildlife conservation; and hunting opportunities. You will get hands-on experience with firearms prior to any shooting activities.

Pre-registration is required through the Fergus Falls Community Education Office. The Community Education Office is located in the Roosevelt Education Center at 340 Friberg Avenue. Cost for registration and home study material is $5.00. (Students may certify with the MN DNR once the class has been successfully completed. There will be a $7.50 fee at that time.)

The class will be held on Saturday, April 23rd from 9am-1pm at the Lakes Area Shooting Center. The shooting centers address is 19135 250th Street, Fergus Falls MN 56537. Driving directions will be included with the home study package.
