Rehabilitation & Exercise Topic of Next Cancer Center Education Series

Series Meeting Time Moves to Noon on the 2nd Monday

(FERGUS FALLS, Minn.) The Cancer Care & Research Center invites you to join this month’s education series on Monday, March 14th to discuss rehabilitation & exercise for patients with chronic illness.

In the past, people being treated for a chronic illness (an illness a person may live with for a long time, like cancer or diabetes) were often told by their doctor to rest and reduce their physical activity. “This is good advice if movement causes pain, rapid heart rate, or shortness of breath,” according to Cancer Center Director Jamie Nordic. “But newer research has shown that exercise is not only safe and possible during cancer treatment, but it can improve how well you function physically and your quality of life,” she added.

To address this topic, Lake Region Healthcare Physical and Occupational Therapists, as well as the Wellness team members will provide information, demonstrations, and useful tools for guests on the topic of rehabilitation & exercise at this month’s class.

The session begins Noon on Monday, March 14th. Lunch will be served beginning at 11:45. “We have moved our meeting time from the evening to the noon hour in response to feedback from the community,” Nordick said. “We hope this will be a more convenient time for guests to take advantage of this free programming.”

Please call 218-736-8688 for more information. Guests are encouraged to call if they plan to attend, however it is not necessary. The Cancer Care & Research Center is located at 908 South Cascade Street S. Fergus Falls MN.

Individual session topics and details for future sessions in the Education Series dates (always the 2nd Monday of the month) are available on the “Education & Events” link at www.lrhc.org.
