This is just a reminder that the Potato Days Festival is only a few days away and it is not too
late to think about entering some of the contests.
Potato sacks are available at Barnesville Grocery, Cenex and at the Potato Days office for
anyone that might want to enter the Fashion Show. The categories for this year is “Potato
Days Movie Stars”, Adult (13 and over) and Children (12 and under). Anything goes in the
Adult and Children categories so all it takes is a little imagination and maybe a bit of sewing,
pinning or gluing. Construction of the garment or accessory does not count!
There is still time to sign up for the Potato Casserole Cook Off, the Lefse Cook Off, the Parade
and many of the other contests.
The categories for the Kiddies Parade are Doll Buggies and Wagons; Historical; Cartoon or
Storybook Character; Hobo or Clown; King or Queen; Bride or Groom; Decorated Bikes and
the always popular Pets category. The Kiddie Parade will begin lining up at the parking lot
north of City Hall at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Hope you were able to get your registration in for the 5K/10K which begins on Saturday
morning at 8:00 and the ever popular Car Show is at McGrath Park. Almost 200 cars were
entered last year and there will no doubt be more this year. Don’t forget to mark your
calendars for the FREE French Fry Feed Friday night – get them while they are hot and until
they run out! This year’s featured event is the Golden Potato Scavenger Hunt – read the clues
and get out and find that golden potato and win $100 in Barnesville Bucks!!
