Over $152,000 to be Awarded for Art Projects This Spring by LRAC

The next round of grant programs are under way at the Lake Region Arts Council, Fergus Falls.  Over $152,000 will be awarded in art grants to individuals, arts organizations, public schools, colleges, universities, and non profit organizations to promote art projects and art access in the LRAC region.  LRAC serves the counties of Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse, and Wilkin.

The LRAC Spring Project Grant Round will award $25,520 to arts organizations and public institution such as K-12 schools, community education programs, colleges, libraries and museum located in the LRAC region.  This grant will fund up to $3,000 and a 20% match of total expenses is required from the applicant.  An organization may apply for more than one grant per grant round and is limited to $5,000 per year in Project Grant funding.

Project Grant examples: artist residencies in schools with public performance or presentation, teaching workshops for the community in all disciplines, art exhibit, musical concert or theatrical/dance performance in the school for the students and community, literary publication, transportation costs to bring students and community to art events or activities.

Important Spring Project Grant Dates:

Project Grant Deadline is midnight, Tuesday, February 2, 2016.  The online application and all supporting documents must be submitted by this date to the LRAC office. All documents may be submitted electronically by email to LRAC4@LRACgrants.org

Project Grant Review is Tuesday, March 15, 2016  The LRAC Board will conduct their grant review at the LRAC Office, 133 South Mill St, Fergus Falls.  The grant review follows the Minnesota Open Meeting Law, and the public is invited to observe the proceedings.  All grant projects must start after the Spring Project Grant Review.

The LRAC Spring Legacy Arts & Cultural Heritage Grant round will be opening on January 25, 2016 for both organizations and individuals.  $188,585 will be awarded to non profit organizations and public institutions to provide art access, art education and cultural heritage to their communities.  $37,960 will be awarded to individuals to fund art projects that increase the public’s access, skills and understanding of the arts. There is no match required and no maximum amount. All applicants are permitted to ask for what is needed to accomplish the project.  All applicants requesting $10,000 or more are required to contact the LRAC office to discuss their grant application.

Legacy Grant Writing Workshop on Tuesday, January 26, 2016.  Legacy Grant Writing for organizations is from 3 to 5 pm.
