Bernice Hanson

Funeral services were held for Bernice Hanson age 83, of Henning, Minnesota on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Henning, Minnesota with Pastor Rud Wasson officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Kim Haugen. Special music was provided by Courtney Kohl. The pallbearers were Jess Kohl, Kari Saurer,  Donna Zimmerman, Jason Kohl, Dean Saurer, and Dustin Saurer. Bernice was laid to rest in Girard Cemetery in Henning, Minnesota.

Bernice Arlene Juvrud was born on April 5, 1932 in Henning, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Olaf and Ethel (Ramburg) Juvrud. Bernice attended Country School District #205 in Henning Township. On April 20, 1952 Bernice was united in marriage to Herman Hanson at Grace Lutheran Church in Henning, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with 6 children. Bernice and Herman made their home in Inman Township where Herman farmed and Bernice raised their family. In the early years she was employed at Henning Hatchery and the Henning Bakery, but mainly she was a home maker. Bernice and Herman made their home in Henning in 1999. Herman passed away on June 13, 2014. Bernice enjoyed gardening and flower gardening, hook and latch where she made rugs, puzzles, and feeding birds and squirrels.

Bernice passed away peacefully on May 3, 2015 at Debbie and  Tom O’Dea’s home in Bluffton under the care of Legacy Hospice at 83 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Bernice in death were her parents; husband: Herman Hanson; son: Leroy Hanson; grand-daughter: Mindy Kohl.

Bernice is survived by her daughters: Kathy (Russell) Saurer of Ottertail; Linda (Fred) Kohl of Henning; Lois Meier of New York Mills; Debbie (Tom) O’Dea of Bluffton; son: Steven Hanson of Henning; 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister: Iona Wicklander of Puyallup, Washington; brother-in-law: Harry (Audrey) Hanson of Henning; sister-in-law: Virginia Hanson of Henning; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
