Frieda Johanna Miller, 99, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, August 16, 2010, at the PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls.
She was born May 12, 1911, at the Hensch homestead in Western Township of Otter Tail County, MN, the daughter of Henry and Johanna (Kohnke) Hensch Sr.
On September 27, 1933, she married Clarence C. Miller at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Western Township. Frieda’s life was devoted to being a housewife, farmer’s wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Over the years she served as a Sunday school teacher, was a member of the LWML Ladies Circle, and did quilting for missions. She delivered Meals-on-Wheels to the shut-ins through 90 years of age.
Frieda loved baking and cooking, and was especially known for her bun making. She also enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, gardening, her house plants, quilting for family, and in her younger years, ice skating. She made quilts for all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Clarence, her daughter, Diane Knopf, her son-in-law, Gary Bradow, her great-granddaughter, Angel Knopf, four brothers, Otto, Herman, Albert, and Henry Hensch, and a sister, Louise Kruse.
Survivors include three daughters, Martha (Milo) Smith of Libby, MT, JoAnn (Gary) Wendt of Moorhead, MN, and Norma Bradow of Fergus Falls; 12 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, August 19 at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 11 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

Interment: Immanuel Cemetery, Western Township.

Clarence Jacob Schriver, 93, a 12 year resident of the Minnesota Veteran’s Home and formerly of Vergas, died Friday, August 27, 2010, at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Fergus Falls.
He was born on September 28, 1916, in Waubun, MN the son of Michael and Margaret (Jaeger) Schriver. When he was an infant the family moved to rural Perham where he attended country school through the eighth grade. He continued to work on the family farm near Vergas.
On October 21, 1941 he was drafted by the U.S. Army and trained at Camp Wallis, TX and New Orleans before serving in the Panama Canal as a gunner with the Anti Aircraft Battery. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he continued to serve four years in the area. During his return to the United States, the ship was engulfed in enemy fire on the Caribbean Sea. The company survived and returned to the main land. Clarence continued to serve his country at Ft. Sheridan, IL and Camp Croft, SC where his position was to train infantry recruits for overseas duty. He then was stationed in the New York City Recruitment Center for two years and sent overseas to Tokyo, Japan during the Korean War, serving in the Anti Aircraft Battery. He was promoted to Master Sergeant and served again in Japan and on the border of Korea for two years, returning to Cheyenne, WY, serving as an artillery advisor to the National Guard. He was discharged from active duty in September of 1963.
He returned to the Vergas area where he purchased a home and enjoyed working for 12 years with area farmers including Rodney Richter. His father Mike resided with him before he entered the Perham Nursing Home. In 1998 Clarence entered the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Fergus Falls, the third resident in their new facility. He enjoyed being active at the home in their Residence Council, playing cards and bingo.
He was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. of Frazee and the American Legion of Perham.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Walter and six sisters, Marie Gerber, Ludwina as an infant, Edvina Hanneman, Rosa Mindermann, Goldie Albright and Ruth Tester.
Survivors include two sisters, Erma Carlson of rural Battle Lake and Fergus Falls, also Bertha Sonnenberg of Vergas and Frazee along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 10 at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home Chapel, Fergus Falls

Joseph Frank Wedll, 73, of rural Erhard died Tuesday, August 31, 2010, under the special care of the Lakeland Hospice House of Fergus Falls.
He was born May 10, 1937, in Fergus Falls the son Wencil and Margaret Mary (Scully) Wedll. Baptized and confirmed at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, he attended country school near Elizabeth and also high school.
On August 1,1959, he married Barbara Andrus at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church. The couple were the parents of three sons, Dennis, Glen and Steven.
On June 15, 1954, he entered the U.S. Navy where he honorably served his country for 22 years as a Chief Boiler Technician E-8. He was stationed in San Diego, CA., Canton, N.J., Long Beach, CA. and Alexandria, MN. where he served as a recruiter and retired out of Norfolk, VA. Joseph served on the U.S.S. Massey, C.S. Speery, Bauer, Winston, Benner, Brinkley Bass, Hermitage and Forrestal during the Viet Nam and Korean Wars. He was discharged on September 30, 1975. He spent the next 25 years working for Minn Dak Farmer’s Cooperative as a shift maintenance supervisor in Wahpeton.
He is a member of the St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church and the Disabled Veteran’s of America.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, woodworking, camping. He was an avid Twins fan and enjoyed traveling.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Helen Boe, Myra Black and Betty Hammer; three brothers, George, Tony and John Wedll as an infant.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of rural Erhard and three sons, Dennis (special friend Susan Nelson) of Mooreton, N.D., Glen (Jodi) of Lino Lakes and Steven (Dawn) of North Aurora, IL; four grandchildren, Matthew, Courtney, Nathan and Jami Wedll; a sister, Joan (Gerald) Brusven of Elizabeth and Wencil Wedll Jr. of Babbitt along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation: Friday, September 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a public prayer service at 7 p.m. at the
Faith & Hope Funeral Home Chapel and one hour prior to services at he church.
