LRH Moving into New Clinic Thursday & Friday, Opening to Public on Monday
Walk-In Clinic and Family Medicine Dept. Prepared to Help Patients During Move
(FERGUS FALLS, Minn.) – Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) will move into its new 30-million dollar 80,000 square foot state of the art clinic building on time and on budget later this week.
“This is a very exciting time for our community. We owe a large debt of gratitude to the many contractors who diligently kept the project on track, our neighbors and patients who put up with many inconveniences during construction, and the community as a whole for their support,” said Larry Schulz, President and CEO of LRH. “We believe the new patient-centered processes and state-of-the-art technology that have come together in this beautiful new building will create the health care experience our patients deserve,” he added.
In anticipation of the large task of moving medical equipment, supplies and workspaces into the new building, Schulz says the clinic will be closing at noon on Thursday, December 10th and remain closed through Friday the 11th. During that timeframe, the Walk-In Clinic on the west side of town will have additional medical staff on duty and will extend their hours to 8am to 8pm on Friday the 11th. “There will also be a limited number of primary care providers in our Family Medicine department during the move to accommodate unscheduled medical needs during the move,” he said.
A moving company has been hired to move the bulk of items from the old building to the new one. Staff will then unpack and set up the clinic, testing the new systems and processes over the weekend. “We look forward to welcoming patients to our new facility first thing Monday morning, December 14th,” Schulz said.
All of the current clinic practices will move to the clinic, along with the addition of Same Day Surgical Services. Retail spaces for 20/20 Optical and Thrifty White Pharmacy will also move to the new clinic lobby. The old clinic will be demolished and replaced with parking in the spring. Until then, parking will continue to be somewhat limited, but Schulz said patients will be able to park in the old clinic parking lot for overflow parking. “We will also offer valet parking from 9am to 2pm to help alleviate parking challenges for those who have difficulties with mobility,” he said.
Other changes patients can expect at the new facility include a simplified check in process done directly on the floor their provider practices instead of at one central registration location. The phone number for appointments has also been consolidated so patients only need to remember one phone number for all appointments: 218.739.2221. Special amenities including an aquarium in the pediatric waiting area and a Caribou Coffee in the lobby are designed to enhance the patient experience during clinic visits.
