Digitizing Embroidery
Workshop and Artist Talk with Jane Claire Remick
Wednesday, March 30th, 5-6:30pm
Join Hinge Resident Artist, Jane Claire Remick from Washington D.C., for a short artist talk and workshop on digitizing embroidery. She will share her ongoing work and experimentations based on 19th century Mi-Atlantic American Samplers and contemporary factory-produced machine embroidery. Participants will be invited to collaborate on a “digital sampler.” Don’t worry: coding and design skills are not necessary to participate.
When: Wednesday, March 30th, 5:00 – 6:30pm
Where: Studio K (At the Kaddatz Gallery in Fergus Falls)

What to bring: If you have a laptop, we encourage you to bring it, but it’s not required.

Portrait and Figure Drawing with Scott Gunvaldson
Thursday, 7-8:30pm, April 7th – May 16th
In this 8 week course students will have the opportunity to study muscle detail, facial expressions, and overall form in a way that is not possible with a two-dimensional image. Models will be clothed. A great course for those looking to take their drawing skills to the next level.
$150 for 8 weeks, includes supplies

Karla Gallagher
May 10th – June 18th
Reception and Talk Saturday, May 14th, 2-5pm
Karla Gallagher currently lives in Fergus Falls. She works primarily with acrylics on canvas and her subjects vary from people to animals or landscapes. Some are simple in composition and technique others are complex in both content and form. Although she has no formal training, Gallagher continues to work on developing her unique style and artistic skill.
Drawing Technique with Lila Hauge-Stoffel
Wednesdays, 3-5pm, starting June 8th for six weeks
This six week class will cover a variety of drawing techniques and mediums. Techniques that will be studied include the use of expressive lines, shading, perspective, development of texture, and use of color using graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, and pastel. Study of these techniques is helpful for development of both drawing and painting skills. Gain skills and artistic confidence in a variety of mediums. The instructor will present step by step lessons designed to guide students in learning new techniques, and also offer constructive criticism and helpful feedback. No prior study of drawing is needed and all skill levels are welcome. For ages 12+.

Free, fun, and informal events for all ages and abilities. Led by local artists.
The first Saturday of the month at the Fergus Falls Public Library, 10am – 12pm.
