St. PAUL, MN – To ensure the broadest possible applicant pool, the Commission on Judicial Selection will extend the Minnesota Supreme Court application deadline until June 30, 2015. With the upcoming retirement of Associate Justice Alan C. Page not scheduled to occur until August 31, 2015, Governor Dayton and the Commission wanted to give interested individuals more time to apply.
Throughout the process, the Governor and the Commission on Judicial Selection will continue looking for individuals who possess great integrity, extensive legal knowledge, broad experience, and a commitment to fairness.
While the timing of any final action is uncertain, Justice Wilhelmina Wright’s nomination for confirmation to the Federal Court for the District of Minnesota was recently sent to the United States Senate. Upon confirmation by the Senate, Justice Wright’s federal appointment would create an additional vacancy on the Minnesota Supreme Court. Extending the application deadline also could help fill this vacancy.
Governor Dayton has asked the Commission on Judicial Selection to aid in the review and selection process for this vacancy. The at-large members of the Commission will consider applicants and offer recommendations to the Governor
An individual wishing to apply may request an application by contacting Andrew Olson, Deputy Director of Appointments, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Application materials are due by close of business, Tuesday, June 30, 2015.
